Tips for Teachers

A Time to Teach

With A Time to Teach training, learn how to intentionally ignore student behavior, systemically teach students how to behave, and so much more! Here's just one tip you'll learn in our A Time to Teach training:

When a student is misbehaving, ask yourself these questions: "Am I able to teach?", "Are the other students able to learn?", and "Is the student in question able to learn?" If the answer is yes to all of these, keep teaching.

Cultivating a Growth Mindset

Teachers can foster a growth mindset in their classrooms by emphasizing effort and persistence over innate ability. This involves praising students for their hard work, resilience, and strategies rather than their intelligence or talent. Teachers can create a supportive environment where mistakes are viewed as learning opportunities and encourage students to embrace challenges. Providing constructive feedback, setting achievable goals, and modeling a growth mindset themselves can further inspire students to develop a love for learning and a belief in their ability to improve through dedication and effort.

Effective Instruction

Effective instructional practices for teachers center on creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment that caters to diverse student needs. This includes employing differentiated instruction to address varying learning styles and abilities, using formative assessments to monitor and guide student progress, and integrating technology to enhance interactive learning. Additionally, fostering a growth mindset through positive reinforcement and feedback encourages student resilience and a love for learning. Collaborative learning opportunities and real-world application of knowledge further enrich the educational experience, promoting critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Continuous professional development ensures teachers stay updated with the latest educational research and strategies, enhancing their instructional effectiveness.
